29th July: A huge thank you to all those who helped make Summershine 2018 the best Summershine ever! Just a reminder: there will only be one service at Salem this Sunday – an all age event at 11 am where we will celebrate Summershine and reflect on the treasures that the Guardians have found this week from the story of Jesus.
Services in August:
NO WELSH SERVICES AT 9.30 am – DIM GWASANAETHAU CYMRAEG am 9.30
11 am and 6 pm services to run as usual unless otherwise advised (Rosa is away until 8th September)
Services in September: back to normal, with Welsh language service at 9.30 am, all age English language service at 11 am, and traditional English language service at 6 pm.
All are welcome to our services. You don’t need to be a Christian, or to wear smart clothes. Just come as you are! We have an all age service at 11 am, which also has children’s activities (what used to be called Sunday School, but more fun than school!) We also have a more traditional service at 6 pm. Both of these are in English.
Mae gwasanaeth Cymraeg am 9.30 bob bore Sul. Croeso arbennig i ddysgwyr!
Through May, June and July we will be following the Revised Common Lectionary (https://lectionary.library.vanderbilt.edu/) and exploring chapters 15 and 16 of John’s gospel, as well as Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians.
The 3rd of June is a very special day. At 11 am we will be celebrating the infant dedication of Owain, and this will be followed by a bring and share lunch, to which all are invited. At 6 pm we will then be treated to a concert by Ny Ako, a Scripture Union choir from Madagascar. Tickets are free, but the choir will be selling some local crafts in order to help fund their tour. Please bring your friends!
Hooray, BB is back! Download the latest parents’ and guardians’ newsletter here. Parents’ Letter Summer 2018
Please note that ALL SERVICES at Salem are cancelled on Sunday 4th March 2018 due to inclement weather.
As usual, we will be holding services three times on a Sunday: gwasanaeth Cymraeg (croeso mawr i ddysgwyr!) am 9.30 yb, a lively English language All Age service with a thriving Sunday school at 11 am, and a quieter, more traditional English language service at 6 pm.
On the 4th February our theme will be ‘Praying the Bible’, and we will be looking at the ancient practice of Lectio Divina, and trying it out on two passages from Mark’s gospel. On the 11th February, we will join the wider church in celebrating the transfiguration of Jesus, and studying Mark 9 : 2-9. On the 18th February, we mark the beginning of Lent by seeing what the Bible has to teach us about ‘relinquishing prayer’, and we will be studying Mark 1:9-15. Rosa will be leading all these services, except the evening one on the 11th February. On the 25th February, we welcome our own Revd Jon Birch to take both English language services, and speak to us on healing, and praying with authority.
You would be most welcome to join us at any of our services, whatever your faith or life story.
